Position Overview:

The Sales Director is responsible for leading a sales team of Regional Sales Managers, Inside Sales Managers, Clinical Specialists, Clinical Sales Specialists (hybrids), Territory Managers and  Omnipod Specialists to achieve their quarterly performance objectives across Canada.

Responsibilities

The position is accountable for consistently achieving regional sales and training objectives, ensuring these results are profitable, and within the guidelines of Insulet Corporation’s defined practices. The position is responsible for the management and development of the Regional Sales Managers and their teams and the Reginal Clinical Manager. This position will also facilitate and be accountable for correlating any contact between the Field and all internal operational teams at Insulet Corporation.
 

Key Decision Rights

  • Meets/exceeds quarterly and annual sales and profitability objectives as well as market share.
  • Works effectively and productively within the Insulet Corporation sales and clinical teams as well as home office team environment.
  • Develops and maintains superior relationships with key diabetes decision makers and influencers across the region.
  • Strong proficiency in the understanding and utilization of all ancillary Insulet Corporation data management software.
  • Perform consistent analysis to determine the effectiveness of each region and territory.
  • Interview and hire new Field personnel as needed.
  • Lead the performance management process for all team members within the region.
  • Completes administrative duties in a timely manner and works within specified budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Required Leadership/Interpersonal Skills & Behaviors

  • Proven leadership, communication and mentoring skill set.
  • Clinical capability regarding insulin delivery and diabetes management.
  • Knowledge of key business processes and ability to coach team to meet organizational goals
  • Medical industry sales experience as well as strong clinical & diabetes training experience required.
  • Must possess strong leadership and business development skills.
  • Keen understanding of all clinical aspects of diabetes and diabetes management.
     

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of the Canadian Market access environment.
  • Strong leadership and goal-setting ability along with the ability to mentor and coach to optimal performance.
  • Must possess very strong computer skills as well as a very strong proficiency for working with databases to analyze performance as well as develop national strategies.
  • Team player with the ability to lead a highly motivated and demanding sales and clinical teams.
  • Successful sales track record; excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to create and execute a regional sales and clinical plan; ability to manage budgets.
  • Very strong computer proficiency and data analysis required.
  • Ability to generate and analyze data for the purposes of forecasting, evaluation and performance management.
  • Helping sales and clinical team to achieve their targets.
     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • MBA (preferred)
  • At least 8 years’ sales management experience in the medical device industry/pharmaceutical industry and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 successful years in diabetes sales and operations.
     

Additional Information

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • This position requires frequent business travel (up to 75% weekly travel).
  • Ability to travel (air and land).
