Job description

This is a remote position.

Role and Responsibilities:

A Platform Engineer in this role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the underlying infrastructure and platforms that support the organization's Teradata-based data warehousing and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teradata Administration:
    • Install, configure, and manage Teradata Database systems.
    • Perform database design, modeling, and optimization.
    • Manage Teradata AMP tables, views, and procedures.
    • Implement and manage Teradata data loading and unloading processes.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve Teradata-related issues.
  • Infrastructure Management:
    • Manage the underlying hardware infrastructure for Teradata systems, including servers, storage, and networking.
    • Monitor and optimize system performance.
    • Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions for Teradata environments.
  • Data Integration:
    • Design and implement data integration solutions using Teradata tools (e.g., Aster Data Federation, ETL tools).
    • Integrate Teradata with other data sources and systems.
  • Performance Tuning:
    • Analyze and optimize Teradata query performance.
    • Identify and address performance bottlenecks.
    • Implement indexing, partitioning, and other optimization techniques.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
    • Implement security measures to protect Teradata data.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and application developers to support their data needs.
    • Work with other IT teams to ensure platform integration and compatibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong Experience of Teradata Database architecture and administration.
  • Experience with data warehousing and analytics concepts.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Teradata SQL dialects.
  • Knowledge of data integration and ETL processes.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Certification in Teradata Database administration.
  • Experience with Teradata Aster Data Federation or other data integration tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration with Teradata.
  • Experience with data modelling and data governance.
