Job description

Work Environment

Work from Home and On the Road. We are seeking a compassionate, self-motivated, energetic, and independent registered nurse to join our team as a Medical Case Manager. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of injured workers and their families. This position involves significant local travel and is responsible for managing a caseload of workers’ compensation cases within a defined jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical case management through in-person and telephonic communications with patients, physicians, other healthcare providers, employers, and relevant parties.
  • Utilize your medical and nursing knowledge to discuss current treatment plans with physicians and explore alternative treatment options.
  • Evaluate patients’ treatment plans for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness. Provide ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients’ progress.
  • Attend doctors’ visits, other provider appointments, home visits, and in some cases, attorney visits.
  • Participate in hospital and long-term facility discharge planning conferences to determine the appropriateness of care and develop effective long-term care strategies. Conduct initial home visits for initial evaluations.
  • Implement care, such as negotiating the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
  • This role requires regular travel, up to approximately 60% of the work week/month. Overnight travel may be required.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Effective communication and multitasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Previous experience as an RN or Medical Case Manager is ideal. A clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN Licensure in the state of operation.
  • Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other Case Management certifications are preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to assigned locations are required.

Pay Range

Our pay rates are established based on federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, geographic location differentials, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.), new hires may be slotted into a different level based on assessment during the interview process. The level may impact the salary range.

  • Pay Range: \(63,902 - \)96,662
