Your missions

Title: JBoss Administrator – Senior IT Specialist 
Location: Remote with occasional on-site work at IRS locations (Lanham, MD)
Note: On-site availability required for critical systems support and reviews
Clearance: Public Trust

About this role:

As a Senior JBoss Administrator, you will support the IRS Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) by managing JBoss EAP environments across the federal enterprise. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining JBoss EAP6 and EAP7 in both development and production environments. You will also provide troubleshooting expertise for Java-based applications deployed on JBoss and contribute to the secure and efficient management of middleware systems.

Your role will be crucial in ensuring system availability, security, and compliance with federal standards. You will work closely with federal stakeholders and technical teams to meet project deliverables, optimize system performance, and resolve complex issues related to the JBoss platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain JBoss EAP6 and EAP7 across all IRS environments, ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
  • Provide troubleshooting and performance tuning for JBoss application servers to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with Java developers and other IT specialists to address application issues and improve deployment processes.
  • Configure SSL certificates and vault installations to secure IRS applications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including NIST and CMMC standards.
  • Document best practices and develop white papers to ensure continued IRS operations and system stability.
  • Provide technical leadership on middleware integration and secure system operations within the IRS environment.
Required Skills / Education / Certifications & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in administering JBoss application servers in an enterprise setting.
  • Proficiency in Java development and troubleshooting within a JBoss environment.
  • Experience with SSL configuration and managing secure application deployments.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation of administrative tasks.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with AMQ, DataGrid, and FSW (desired but not required).
  • Familiarity with rpmbuilds and managing JBoss deployments in cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP compliance and NIST 800-53 requirements.
  • Understanding of container technologies (e.g., Docker), and DevOps methodologies.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with government stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring smooth MQ integration and operations.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex messaging issues in a secure, mission-critical environment.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional teamwork skills, especially when working across various departments and external teams to ensure system stability and compliance.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead MQ infrastructure projects and mentor junior staff in MQ administration best practices.
