Job description

Communication Manager

The Donovan Group is seeking a Communication Manager to help public schools and districts tell their stories and communicate more effectively. This individual should be highly organized, a strong and responsive communicator, and skilled at both writing and creating quality graphics in Canva. This full-time position would allow you to work 100% remotely.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with school and district administrators and staff to meet a wide range of communication needs.
  • Creating various types of content for schools and districts, including social media posts/graphics, news release, parent/staff letters, and web articles.
  • Using Canva to create social media and other graphics. Working within Canva to make quick revisions to flyers, fact sheets, brochures, and other items, as needed.
  • Scheduling and posting social media content on behalf of schools and districts, typically using the SproutSocial platform.
  • Developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies for schools and districts.
  • Writing and preparing content for client newsletters, using Smore and similar platforms.
  • Assisting with the creation of handbooks, course guides, reports, and other documents.
  • Using an established project management system and processes to communicate with fellow Donovan Group staff on a daily basis.

  • Extremely well organized and able to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Highly responsive and driven to meet the communication needs of public schools and districts
  • Ability to remain on task and complete assignments and projects in a timely manner while working remotely
  • Proficiency using Canva to create social media graphics and other design pieces as needed
  • Strong writer and editor with an eye for detail
  • Existing knowledge or willingness to learn best practices in school communication
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, intensity, and a deep desire to work hard to accomplish goals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited postsecondary institution
  • Submission of at least two writing samples
  • Submission of a resume

Starting Salary: $56,000 per year

After you apply, we will review your application, resume, and samples and determine if you may be a good fit. After an initial interview, we will ask you to complete an example assignment, which may include creating several written items and/or graphics.
