Job description

We Are Charlotte is partnering with Future Group in their search for a Chief People and Capability Officer (CPCO) to lead the evolution of their people strategy.

We Are Charlotte is a people, talent and culture specialist. We work with ambition, insight and heart, partnering with those who want to drive strategic growth - and who value the impact that every individual can make.

About Future Group

Future Group is not your traditional financial services company - we're a collective of super funds and services committed to changing our planet now for a better tomorrow. When you join us, you’ll become part of a team united by a clear and important mission: to lead the investment movement by advocating and campaigning for a future worth retiring into.

As part of our leadership team, the Chief People & Capability Officer (CPCO) will be at the forefront of shaping our people strategy, building an engaged, high-performing workforce, and fostering a culture that supports our vision.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Investments, People, and Sustainability, you will partner with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to implement key Human Resources and Culture (PCT) initiatives, drive cultural transformation, and ensure that our people practices align seamlessly with our organisational goals. This role forms an important member of the leadership team pursuing our Purpose to address climate change and social equality, along with peers Chief Investment Officer, Chief Impact Officer and Head of Sustainability and DEIB.

Your north star: Lead the evolution of Future Group’s people strategy to create an engaged, innovative, and values-driven workforce that enables our growth and impact.

Responsibilities

As the Chief People & Capability Officer, you will hold a pivotal role, responsible for overseeing the entire People Team (PT) and ensuring our people strategy is aligned with the overall business direction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute the annual people strategy in close collaboration with the Executive Director, ensuring alignment with long-term organisational goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the PT, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight to ensure that the team delivers high-quality HRC services across all functions.
  • Revise and enhance HR frameworks, including performance management, remuneration structures, talent development, and learning initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
  • Oversee employee relations, work health and safety, and recruitment processes, ensuring all are carried out in compliance with relevant laws and regulations while aligning with the organisation’s values.
  • Drive long-term workforce planning, focusing on succession planning, career development, and talent acquisition to ensure the business has the right capabilities to support growth and success.
  • Ensure the effective use of HR systems (e.g., CultureAmp, Ehero) and maintain the integrity and accuracy of people data to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Lead key cultural, engagement, and values-based projects, ensuring that Future Group remains a great place to work where employees feel valued, included, and empowered.
  • Manage the PT budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective use of HR tools and initiatives.
  • Provide strategic HRC support to the ELT and the Board, advising on critical people matters such as executive succession planning, organisational design, and workforce-related risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, maintaining best practices across all HRC policies and procedures and safeguarding the company’s reputation.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, driving cultural change and ensuring that Future Group remains a leader in fostering an inclusive workplace.

You will thrive in this role if:

  • You are a strategic HRC leader with a deep understanding of how people strategies drive organisational success. You understand the complexities of managing people in a high-growth, purpose-led environment and are able to design and implement strategies that align with business goals.
  • You’re passionate about culture and believe that an organisation’s success hinges on fostering a supportive, values-driven environment. You are committed to creating a workplace where employees are empowered to innovate and succeed.
  • You are a strong leader who excels at coaching and developing HR teams, ensuring that they perform at their best and continuously grow in their roles.
  • You are adaptable and thrive in dynamic environments, ready to take on new challenges as the organisation scales and evolves.
  • You’re data-driven and use metrics to guide decision-making. You understand the importance of measuring the success of HRC initiatives and can use data to influence decisions at the executive level.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for a seasoned HR professional who brings:

  • Extensive experience in senior HR leadership roles, ideally within high-growth or complex environments.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing people strategies that align with broader organisational objectives.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in overseeing HR teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across all HR functions.
  • Deep expertise in key HR areas, including employee relations, talent management, succession planning, recruitment, and performance management.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders (e.g., ELT, board members) on people-related matters.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations, ensuring that the organisation remains compliant while aligning policies with the business’s values and culture.
  • Experience in leading culture and engagement initiatives, driving organisational transformation, and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in the financial services industry or other regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with HR technology platforms such as CultureAmp, Ehero, or similar systems.
  • Experience overseeing workforce integrations, particularly in high-growth or acquisition environments.

As the Chief People & Capability Officer, you will:

  • Lead the development of the people strategy, ensuring it aligns with the company’s broader goals and is capable of adapting to future growth and challenges.
  • Mentor and develop the PT, empowering them to deliver outstanding HRC services while fostering their personal and professional growth.
  • Drive cultural initiatives, ensuring that the organisation’s values are reflected in all people practices and that employees feel engaged and supported.
  • Provide strategic counsel to the ELT and board on HRC-related matters, guiding decision-making and contributing to the company’s overall success.
  • Oversee HR systems and compliance, ensuring that processes are efficient, data is accurate, and all operations meet regulatory standards.

Don’t tick all the boxes? That’s okay. We value skills, passion, and potential over exact qualifications. If this role resonates with you and you’re excited about making an impact at Future Group, we want to hear from you!

Why would you enjoy working at Future Group?

  • The potential to own a piece of the Future Group pie with our unique Employee Share Ownership Program (with some fineprint)
  • Fun company-wide events
  • Progressive, people-focused policies and benefits including Menstrual and Menopausal Leave, Public holidays swaps, Cultural Leave, Mental Health Leave and Gender Affirmation Guidelines and Leave.
  • We offer employee network groups for people from diverse backgrounds: SuperGenders for cisgender women, trans men and women and non-binary folks; SuperGlobal for culturally diverse folks; and SuperPride for LGBTQIA+ folks. The groups are a safe, supportive space for people to share experiences and ideas

  • A laptop you can use to work remotely plus an allowance to make your working from home setup comfortable
  • Other perks such as access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), the ability to purchase leave, novated leasing arrangements for electric vehicles, and a few more to find out
