Location: Chula Vista/ San Diego Area (Remote)

Position Overview

The Collections Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day collections operations and managing the collections process, including tracking and managing outstanding aged receivables and ensuring timely payments from customers. This also includes managing a team of collection specialists, monitoring accounts receivable, analyzing billing data, and implementing process improvements. The Collections Manager will also collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer disputes, implement strategies to maximize collection efforts, and maintain accurate records of all collections activities. This position will be key in maintaining appropriate compliance and must stay up to date with any laws or regulations regarding collections. This is a highly visible position reporting to the Accounting Manager with direct interactions with the CFO.

Essential Functions

  • Managing the collections process and effectively resolving customer disputes.
  • Knowledge of and staying up to date on applicable laws and regulations related to collections.
  • Overseeing, training, and mentoring staff members in the Collections Team.
  • Setting payment collection goals and targets for the department to minimize Aged Receivables.
  • Implementing process improvements and technology based automations to improve efficiency of collections.
  • Preparing daily/weekly/monthly reports on payment collections to identify activity, trends, risks/opportunities.
  • Conduct audits of client billing records to identify potential risks or fraud.
  • Other duties as assigned


Work Experience & Education

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a collections manager, managing the collections process
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and General Ledger and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail.
  • Outstanding leadership and managerial skills.
  • Strong time and people management skills.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
