RX Procurement Manager

The RX Procurement Manager will be a key member of the Procurement team and will report to the Director of Procurement. Procurement overlooks the sourcing strategy, negotiation, and vendor management for all of NVA’s major prescription contracts. This is a unique opportunity to work on multi-million dollar contracts that will influence the direction of NVA’s overall business operations and support functions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as category expert for the prescription category, which includes (but is not limited to) pharmaceuticals, preventative medications, and other prescriptions as identified
  • Develop and execute category strategies, which includes spend / metrics data, industry benchmarks and future budgets to provide recommendations to the business on savings ideas, supplier rationalization and operational improvements.
  • Lead change management efforts related to implementing our strategy and transformation in support of category strategic and operational objectives
  • Drive strategic cost optimization efforts through process improvements, contractual efficiencies and elimination of waste; achieve and exceed annual and multi-year cost savings goals.
  • Develop strong partnerships and nurture a positive business relationship with internal stakeholders and suppliers to understand their processes; short- and long-term business objectives, strategic direction and goals while providing a customer focus attitude.
  • Organize and lead business reviews with strategic suppliers
  • Build short- and long-term Sourcing pipeline
  • Conduct and manage RFP/RFX processes
  • Negotiate pricing and other business terms with suppliers, conduct industry benchmarking of pricing and make recommendations on programs to reduce supplier costs
  • Support internal customers by ensuring supplier performance, delivery of goods and services, and provide ongoing supplier management
  • Assist as necessary with projects to improve and streamline the Sourcing organization’s processes
  • Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices
  • Pending business needs, potential to manage a team of 1 or 2 people in the future

Required Skills/Experience

  • At least five years of experience in Sourcing and Procurement
  • RX procurement experience in animal or human health strongly preferred
  • Able to draft and execute agreements
  • Strong business acumen and understands business processes
  • Well-versed with best practices in sourcing (7-step process or similar)
  • Skilled negotiator and knowledgeable of general legal terms for commercial contracting
  • Work well under pressure, ability to multitask and skilled time manager who is comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Experience presenting to executives and demonstrates professional gravitas, confident and assertive presentation style, and is able to explain complex procurement issues in an audience-friendly format.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Ability to deliver results working solo and in multidisciplinary teams
  • Self-starter, self-motivated ability to deliver results with minimum supervision
  • Complete fluency with MS office and G-suite products, along with web navigation and spend/savings databases.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Marketing or related field
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and appropriate dissemination of sensitive and confidential information

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience with eRFX tools, including Scout, Iasta, Ariba, iValua or similar
  • Experience in using Tableau, Qlik, or other data visualization tools
  • Experience in using JDE, Oracle or similar ERP platforms
  • While not a requirement, vet med industry experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required MBA or Masters preferred

Compensation

The cash compensation range is between $100,000 - $130,000 annually with eligibility for benefits.
