The role is positioned in the Plan Zero Consulting team and the successful candidate will help customers understand their carbon footprint, define carbon transition plans and accelerate their journey to net zero.


What will you do day to day?

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager to join our Mitie Plan Zero Consulting team. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in sustainability and net-zero strategies to engage with clients, lead project delivery, and drive business growth. The Senior Manager will oversee the quality assurance of all deliverables and provide supervision and mentorship to team members.


Key Responsibilities:


Client Engagement and Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients at all organisational levels, serving as a trusted adviser on sustainability and net-zero strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their sustainability objectives and challenges, tailoring solutions to meet their unique needs.

Sustainability Strategy Development and Implementation:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive sustainability and net-zero strategies for clients.
  • Identify opportunities to drive decarbonisation and enhance sustainability through operational improvements, policy, and technology solutions.
  • Lead heat decarbonisation plans to reduce clients' reliance on fossil fuels and increase energy efficiency.
  • Conduct renewable energy and battery storage assessments to optimise energy use and integrate sustainable energy solutions.

Project Management and Team Leadership:

  • Manage sustainability projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, providing guidance and fostering professional growth among junior consultants.

Financial Management and Business Development:

  • Contribute to the financial success of the consulting practice by meeting revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop proposals and lead business development initiatives, including pricing strategies for potential projects.

Thought Leadership, Reporting, and Compliance:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability and net-zero initiatives.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by sharing insights through whitepapers, webinars, and public speaking engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards and oversee the quality assurance of all consulting projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Sustainability)


Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience in a relevant field
  • Proven experience working on decarbonisation projects or at a sustainability consulting, with a focus on net-zero strategies.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful sustainability strategies.
  • Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and financial targets.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability
