Job description

Role Summary

Our client is looking for a Buyer II who will be responsible for successfully negotiating, purchasing, and managing commodity materials required for the projects. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, market analysis, advising the team of current market conditions, and exchanging up-to-date market information with the other buyers during the week. Staying informed of current events that affect both the supply and the demand side for the area of responsibility as well as developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal customers and suppliers.

WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Central Daylight Time (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

Essential Functions

  • Select products and negotiate buying terms with suppliers, including price, margin, exclusivity, and delivery terms
  • Oversee order placement and delivery
  • Write product line and product knowledge sheets
  • Set the open-to-buy plan to make inventory decisions
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities
  • Meet with store associates and the customer relationship management team to get feedback
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to analyze performance and make improvements
  • Partner with marketing, sales, operations, and other team members to optimize sales

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in merchandising management, business, accounting, finance, or related field is required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a buyer or similar role
  • CPIM, CPM or CSCP certification is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials, specific to glass and glazing
  • Close attention to detail and proven organizational skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Displays exceptional math skills
  • Has excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology for procurement
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines timely and efficiently
