Job Description
The Accident and Health Product Underwriting and Individual and Group Health Medical Management Director is responsible for domestic product underwriting medical management nationally and development of strategic and tactical planning, as it relates to underwriting and medical management.
Key Responsibilities
• Manages the medical management staff consisting of clinical risk analysts and risk management analysts
• Oversees external underwriting support partners, such as electronic app vendors, offshore data processing vendors and MGU’s
• Oversees 51+ market expansion, particularly the management of our outsourced underwriting staff at the MGU
• Collaborates with TPAs to resolve operational issues and improve efficiencies in medical reviews
• Implements underwriting strategies that ensure a quality underwriting work product is produced consistent with underwriting strategies, standards and processes
• Develops, facilitates communication, acts as liaison and continues to maintain relationships between multiple departments (Claims, Product, Sales, Operations, etc.)
• Manages underwriting staff to include underwriters, underwriting techs, quality assurance, etc.
• Continuously analyzes medical review processes to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce cost and improve the customer experience
• Oversees external medical management partners, to include medical management firms, medical record retrieval firms and medical director consultants
• Develops underwriting processes for any new product launches
Functional Skills:
• Medical Underwriting Management and Strategy
• Strategic leadership for group and individual medical products
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in the interpretation of data to develop strategic/tactical plans for underwriting structures and selections
• Ability to apply expert knowledge of statutes and regulations governing the quoting, sales, bind, endorsing, servicing, and cancellation of insurance policies
Education
• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
Experience
• 12 or more years of experience (Preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This job has supervisory duties.

• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Compensation
Compensation offered for this role is $152,250.00 - 203,437.50 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
