Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Business Development Consultant to join our award-winning Defined Contribution (DC) team. You will be supporting the development and delivery of profitable DC Pensions business development strategies, strengthening the development of intermediary relationships and the establishment and development of direct prospects in order to achieve LGIM’s DC growth targets.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working alongside Senior Business Development Directors on key Employee Benefits Consultants (EBC) relationships, whilst developing their own network amongst the intermediaries
  • Developing new relationships with small EBC firms, ensuring they understand the Legal and General proposition and we are well placed for opportunities via them
  • Managing the internal relationships between the Business Development Directors and the Acquisition support team to ensure new opportunities are well researched and proposals are tailored to each prospect
  • Managing the internal relationships between Client Relationship Managers and the Acquisition support team to ensure existing client retention opportunities are fully bespoke and reflect the existing relationship with Legal and General
  • Researching the wider DC market using known databases to prioritise direct to employer opportunities
  • Developing direct to market opportunities with employers, taking the lead with SME opportunities
  • Recognising opportunities to differentiate the DC proposition in the intermediated market
  • Understanding the impact of changing legislation on the DC market and our DC propositions
  • Ensuring the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are central to all activities and that items prepared provide customers with clear and appropriate information.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Excellent presentation skills including the ability to articulate and convey concepts and ideas to a very senior audience in a clear and compelling manner
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • DC Pensions knowledge investment fund knowledge and some unbundled investment product knowledge is desirable but non-essential
  • A high standard of written English is essential
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills are essential. 
  • Strong research and reference skills
  • An understanding of the DC Pensions marketplace
