Job description

U.S. News & World Report is looking for experienced insurance writers and editors to assist with freelance projects . We’re seeking motivated individuals who are looking to utilize their editorial skills and build a long-standing relationship with the company.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • You should be a nimble writer and/or editor who is skilled at handling multiple short-term and longer-term insurance assignments while meeting simultaneous deadlines.
  • You should be a self-starter who thrives working in a fast-paced digital environment.
  • You should have strong knowledge of all things insurance (in particular, home, life, auto, pet, small business, travel, and more)).
  • Editors should have experience fact checking and proofreading content


You should definitely have:

  • Professional writing or editing experience covering insurance, personal finance, and small business, preferably at an online media company and for a consumer audience
  • The ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • E-commerce/Performance marketing background
  • Strong research, reporting and writing skills
  • Expertise using AP style
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Prior work samples available
