Job description

We are seeking a Senior Development Associate to join CommsHub, a new initiative to directly resource and upskill the global climate ecosystem to pursue strategic communications and public engagement at the scale and sophistication required to ensure the media narratives, public opinion and governmental decision-making reflect accurate appraisals of climate science.

We are currently seeking a Senior Development Associate, who will play a crucial role in building the funder pool for the nascent CommsHub. As the Senior Development Associate, you will be reporting into the Build Director and will play an important role in crafting proposals, developing pitch materials and maintaining relationships with active donor prospects.

This role will interest someone who is a Senior Development Associate and has a passion for fundraising, a strong understanding of philanthropy and donor engagement, who wants to use their creative skills to fight against climate change.

If this sounds like you, we'd love for you to apply.

How you’ll contribute

  • With the Build Director, develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies to achieve programme targets and support the CommsHub strategic plan and mission.
  • Support the Build Director to identify and cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, and other potential supporters, as well as new grant opportunities.
  • Support the Build Director in writing compelling grant proposals and other fundraising materials for CommsHub to secure funding from foundations and grant-making organisations.
  • Coordinate opportunities for active funders to receive information, feel included, and engage with the program.
  • Ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Liaise with the Meliore Grants and Fundraising teams to ensure effective alignment and coordination in fundraising efforts.
  • Track donor interactions, manage donor information, and analyse fundraising data, ensuring compliance with the law and host entity (Meliore Foundation).
  • Provide regular reports and analysis on fundraising activities, goals, and outcomes to CommsHub senior leadership.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in fundraising, philanthropy, and non-profit development, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Our ideal candidate has

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder and funder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of a range of fundraising methods and best practices, with the ability to create engaging and effective fundraising materials.
  • Events project management and delivery.
  • Experience communicating strategic impact to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience managing expenditure budgets or allocating grants.
  • Organized, forward-thinking, and dependable.

Why join us?

  • Be part of a remote-first, international network of professionals working on climate, energy and nature. We offer coworking access in some locations.
  • Work with a bunch of dynamic, culturally diverse individuals who combine their passion to make a difference with a rigorous and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Enjoy regular opportunities to connect and collaborate with colleagues around the world.
  • A full-time position with a consultant or employment contract, subject to location, for 12 months, with possible renewal after one year. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.
