About Our Client

My client is a renowned global CRO at the forefront of preclinical research, committed to delivering innovative solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies around the world. Their expertise spans across preclinical discovery, testing, and development, with a focus on the production and phenotyping of genetically engineered mouse models. They have an established market internationally and are looking to build out and expand their services in the United States. This role is focused on the South territory, preferably Texas.

Job Description

My client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Manager/Associate Director of Business Development with a technical preclinical background and expertise in immuno-oncology, oncology, degenerative disorders, or related therapeutic area. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding their business by identifying strategic opportunities, fostering partnerships, and driving revenue growth.

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the non-profit (research & academic institutions) sectors related to preclinical discovery and development.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage a strong technical background in preclinical research, with a focus on immuno-oncology, oncology, degenerative disorders, or related areas to effectively communicate with clients and internal teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic plans for business development, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify opportunities and mitigate potential challenges.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of high-quality proposals and presentations, showcasing the company's capabilities and value proposition.
  • Contract Negotiation: Drive successful contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms for both the company and clients.
  • Close/Win new Business: Prospect and identify potential clients, selling solutions and closing new deals

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelors, Master's, Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
  • Proven experience in preclinical research, with a focus on immuno-oncology, oncology, degenerative disorders, or related areas.
  • Previous experience with genetically engineered mouse models is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience or exposure to a commercial/business development role in the pharmaceutical or CRO industry.
  • Experience selling into non-profit organizations (research & academic institutions).
  • General knowledge of experience of pharmaceutical development.
  • Strong network within the research & academic sectors.
  • Rolodex of clients in the Southern (Texas)
  • Able to work independently and organize portfolio of business
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Candidates ideally located in South (Texas) territory.
