Job description

Location: Germany – remote or Weinheim/Berlin

Level: Intern

About the role:

You will join a truly global legal team with colleagues based in the US, UK, Germany, China, and Australia to help find legal solutions for our business. You will address legal questions from all lines of business, covering media law, copyright law (including AI topics), competition law, trademark law, IP law, consumer law, compliance, employment, and corporate law, ensuring that all inquiries are handled with expertise and precision. Your role will involve drafting a variety of legal documents, including contracts, letters, memos, and processes/guidelines, and guiding the business through legal disputes and contract negotiations. Additionally, you will support our Legal Department by conducting thorough research and preparing documents. Depending on your experience and interests, you will be able to shape the type of tasks you work on.

What we look for:

We are seeking a candidate who has successfully passed the first state examination in law and wants to join Wiley for their stage during the legal clerkship (Referendariat). You should be eager to experience the challenging and varied tasks in a legal department during your clerkship. Ideally, you already have some experience with copyright law and other IP matters. You should possess strong analytical skills that allow you to quickly grasp and present legal issues. Good self-organization and independence, high commitment, and a “hands-on” mentality are essential qualities for this role. Additionally, you should be a good communicator and have good English skills as most of the internal communication is in English. You will be mentored by experienced colleagues and surrounded by amazing team members, ensuring that you are not left alone during your stage at Wiley. Please note that we cannot provide additional payment for this role.
