About the Role:
The Associate Publisher is responsible for the maintenance and development of a list of journals across Life Sciences, primarily in Earth and Environmental Sciences. The Associate Publisher will continuously and proactively evaluate the performance of the program as it relates to Wiley and department objectives. The Associate Publisher meets objectives with regard to content growth, including submissions, acceptances and published articles. The Assoc Publisher monitors the external competitive landscape and matches developments in the external market to publishing and growth opportunities in the list.
The Associate Publisher is expected to develop and maintain a network of scientific editors and board members associated with the relevant list, and continuously engage with them to gain insight, awareness and feedback on opportunities in the field. The Associate Publisher manages Editor performance and is expected to meet regularly with journal Editors to review and report performance. When needed, the Associate Publisher will also handle succession planning: creating transition plans and identifying successors for all relevant journals. The Associate Publisher is expected to organize, maintain, and report on activities to the Senior Manager and Director in a timely manner.
How you will make an impact:
- Develop subject area to grow submissions and published output
- Creates plans and activities identified in the annual journal development planning cycle
- Proactively manage performance of external journal editors
- Collaborate closely with Publishing Solutions & Performance team to implement initiatives that drive efficiency and productivity.
- Build and nurture internal and external partner relationships
- Build a strong network with external journal editors and be known in the community as a Wiley ambassador

- Bachelor’s degree
- Has expanded conceptual knowledge of publishing (experience in a publishing role or practice in research)
- Establishes collaborative relationships within Wiley and external organizations.
- Knows how to get buy-in from Editors and Societies for changes required to align own titles with strategic priorities
- Receives guidance and overall direction from manager
- Creates and delivers presentations with impact
- Solves straight forward problems independently, deriving at solution using judgement and experience
- Develops a list of related titles with growth / revenue potential

This range represents Wiley’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting.
