Project description

Several eco-tourism partner organizations in Kyrgyzstan have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Eco-tourism Marketing Specialists. The eco-tourism program aims to improve living conditions in remote mountain regions by developing a sustainable and wholesome ecotourism model that utilizes local natural and recreational resources. Ecotourism is a field that promotes responsible global travel by considering travel's impact on wildlife, the environment and local communities.

Each PCRV will support partner organization staff and strengthen staff capacity to develop and promote sustainable ecotourism offerings with minimum impact on wildlife, environment and local culture. The PCRVs will also assist staff in creating effective marketing strategies to attract domestic and international tourists and organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and classes on climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable practices. The overall goal of the assignment is to increase local organizational capacity and development strategy and develop and promote new and diverse ecotourism offerings with sustainable practices to ensure environmental conservation and cultural preservation.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Kyrgyz Republic together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
