Job description

Project description

The Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH) in Mozambique has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as English Language Curriculum Development Specialists. Primary Teacher Training Colleges (IFPs) have identified a need for support to meet their mandate of ensuring literacy, numeracy, and open-minded, problem-solvers to tackle the challenging issues of the day. The training program of the Provincial Directorate of Education (DPE) is also facing serious challenges and has requested support to reach their pedagogical standards.

The PCRVs will be a resource teacher and trainer to future teachers of English. They will enhance literacy, pedagogy, and classroom techniques and instructional methods by collaboratively developing effective teacher training programs, and assisting teachers to identify and develop tools, skills, and abilities to enhance in-classroom education. The PCRVs will also conduct workshops on literacy and pedagogical methodologies and visit area schools to promote an aggressive literacy agenda and better-quality classroom instruction techniques.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Mozambique together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
