About this Position

The Data Architect will help in, building our enterprise data strategy focusing on our Primerica’s data modernization efforts, which includes migration of data to the cloud. They will perform guidance and education to the data engineering development teams on sound data strategies, pipelines, movement, and access. They are considered a subject matter expert in data modeling, data planning, and data transformation strategies, as well as data quality.


Salary up to $165K


This is a remote role.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Data Architect will help in, building our enterprise data strategy focusing on Primerica’s data modernization efforts, which includes migration of data to the cloud. They will perform guidance and education to the data engineering teams on sound data strategies, pipelines, movement, and access. They are considered a subject matter expert in data modeling, data planning, and data transformation strategies, as well as data quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with business and product owners to drive business requirements and recommend best practices as it relates to enterprise data solutions
  • Works independently or with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • Perform as a technical lead for projects and people resulting in successful system implementation, problem resolution and effective training and mentoring of peers
  • Provides consultative and technical direction for data solutions and technical feasibility
  • Participation in multiple complex system projects with proficiency in data engineering and data pipelines
  • Performs as project leader on large, complex projects and manages to completion
  • Ensures implementation of new tools, methods or frameworks while providing for secure data access techniques
  • Provides input on new technology, strategies and techniques related to enterprise data management
  • Evaluates data model changes and provides input and works with requestors to meet Primerica’s data governance standards
  • Continue to improve and document company’s data standards and best practices
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies involving enterprise data architectures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in Information Technology and minimum of 12+ years’ work experience in Information Technology. 
  • Expert in – data modeling, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data cleansing, data governance and enterprise data solutioning
  • Experience with multiple database management systems –relational and NoSQL databases both on-premises and cloud
  • Experienced with BI tools, including Power BI
  • Advanced knowledge of database design. Expert level SQL experience with complex and efficient queries in Db2 and SQL Server
  • Advanced knowledge of system-to-system integration
  • Experience working with web services, APIs and data formats (JSON, XML, etc.)
  • Experience building T-SQL scripts, Functions and Stored Procedures with SQL Server and Db2
  • Experience building enterprise data management solutions, including data lakes, data warehouses and data marts using dimensional modeling and using technologies to support proper loading, transformations and curation
  • Experience with several programming languages and understanding of data access and data integration needs
  • Ability to work on several projects at once, and drive data modeling efforts and governance across disparate teams
  • Experience in Cloud migration and data warehouses – including but not limited to Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift
  • Experience with Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud and Data Quality solutions
  • A Masters in BI, or CS is a plus

Preferred skills:

  • Exposure to z/os (mainframe) data
  • Has worked with data management services and solutions within an AWS environment
  • Implemented MDM and/or CDP solutions
