Join a dynamic team as a Senior Accounting Manager, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing all accounting functions for various funds, including operating, plant, restricted, loans, and agency funds. You will lead a team of talented professionals, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include managing the year-end close process, coordinating with external auditors, and overseeing financial reporting for both the organization and its foundation, as well as contributing to ongoing LEAN projects and developing cost and forecasting analyses.
Key Responsibilities
Lead accounting activities for a range of funds, ensuring accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, reviewing journal entries, and monitoring accounting activities. Oversee data interfaces from bursar, accounts payable, and payroll, ensuring the accounting system remains balanced.
Supervise the Director of Tax and Compliance and manage General Accounting staff and Investment Accountant by providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Oversee the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial reports, manage the year-end closing process, and coordinate with external auditors to manage the annual audit.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards, review and implement new GASB and FASB pronouncements, and oversee financial regulatory reporting.
Lead or participate in LEAN projects to enhance processing efficiency and reduce costs. Continuously evaluate current operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage report development in Workday and prepare forecasts and analyses for internal and external reporting requests.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Accounting Officer.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in auditing or as an Accounting Supervisor/Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or Master's degree.
- Experience with financial planning and forecasting.
- Prior experience in accounting management within a higher education or fund accounting environment.
- Familiarity with Workday or other ERP software.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience and knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and FASB.
Skills And Abilities
- Advanced proficiency with PC-based software, especially Excel, and experience with analytical tools.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
