Who We’re Looking For - Reporting to the Director, Product Development, the Senior Packaging Engineering Manager will partner with product development, packaging design teams, and quality to ensure the integrity of the packaging for the formulation category within MANSCAPED™.  In this role, you will test, evaluate, and select materials based on certain criteria, specifically durability and cost effectiveness. This position will work with internal design and leadership teams and external suppliers to achieve packaging aesthetic and functionality goals. With a strong background in packaging compliance, you will ensure our packaging meets all necessary regulations for shipment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Owns development of packaging conception within formulation categories, driving final format approval based on pre-spec creation, packaging qualification, and compatibility to the formula. 
  • Owns commercialization of new products through functional packaging engineering approval of technical drawings, formula to packaging combability, and line trial validation.
  • Owns creation, documentation, and communication of packaging specifications and testing required for validation of specifications.  
  • Owns packaging artwork technical validations and packaging samples from conception to final standard production. Ensuring standard adheres to defined specifications and requirements. 
  • Owns development of product BOM within specification system and partners with Product Development in communication of BOM.  
  • Support supplier selection from a technical validation and overall business position with understanding of timing and financial impacts. 
  • Partner closely with Demand Planning and Operations to define shipping carton requirements (quantity, weight, dimensions, etc.), ensuring compliance with all customer requirements in all sales channels; clearly communicate these requirements to our contract manufacturing partners and confirm they are adhered to. 
  • Supports kit development with formulation packaging specifications and technical expertise.  
  • Support and drive solutions to packaging consumer complaints and retailer non-conformities. Troubleshoot technical issues across entire supply chain within the formulation categories. 
  • Maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends, inclusive but not limited to packaging technology
  • Other duties as required 

Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years' experience in a packaging engineering field (ideally in personal grooming or cosmetics field)
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Packaging Engineering ideal
  • Advanced knowledge of primary and secondary packaging materials & packaging manufacturing lifecycle 
  • Fluent in package testing methodology, and able to set testing requirements 
  • Experience presenting progress to business partners, leadership, and external partners 
  • Deep knowledge of various type of packaging types including boxes, bottles, closures, labels, and final decoration techniques
  • Competency in testing manufacturing processes related to packaging line trials and filling  
  • Experience with typical packaging related barriers or nuances 
  • Sample portfolio or relevant professional work 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, able to deal effectively with all levels of a diverse and global organization and supplier base 


 

 

Compensation Range
$120,000$130,000 USD
