Job Title: Contract Security Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Security Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The Security Engineer will work closely with our development and QA teams to ensure that all software and embedded hardware products meet stringent cybersecurity and regulatory requirements. This role is crucial to our commitment to secure coding practices, regulatory compliance, and the overall security of our clients' products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to integrate secure coding practices throughout the software and hardware development lifecycle.
  • Conduct security scanning and vulnerability assessments, providing actionable recommendations to enhance security posture.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA cybersecurity requirements, including adherence to NIST, HIPAA, ISO, and other relevant security frameworks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cybersecurity requirements for both software and embedded hardware products.
  • Provide expert guidance on secure software and hardware integration, ensuring products meet regulatory standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving cybersecurity threats and industry best practices to proactively address potential risks.
  • Support the preparation of documentation and reports required for regulatory submissions, focusing on cybersecurity aspects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security issues and ensure compliance with FDA and other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Security Engineer, with a focus on secure coding, cybersecurity requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of FDA regulations and guidelines related to cybersecurity, including NIST, HIPAA, ISO, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Experience with software and embedded hardware development, including secure coding practices and integration.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to provide clear and actionable security recommendations to development and QA teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the medical device industry or a similar regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with FDA submission processes and cybersecurity requirements for medical devices.
  • Hands-on experience with secure development and testing methodologies for embedded systems.
