AIG/MSD within the Electron Microscopy Business Unit commercial team.
Location: Villebon sur Yvette, Remote. Travel about 50%.
How will you make an Impact?
This role is to sell Thermo Scientific™ Surface Analysis products (systems, components, upgrades and PoS (point of sale) services) directly (France) respectively through distributors and agents. While XPS is the core technology of those systems, they are complemented by adjacent technologies like Electron Loss Spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, Ion Scattering Spectroscopy, Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy, and others. In a growing number of instances your sales task is a component of a larger team effort to promote sophisticated workflow solutions that may contain XPS, SEM, FIB-SEM and TEM.

A Day in the Life:
As XPS professional and francophone, you will be the number one go-to person for our surface analysis customers and prospects within the assigned territory! Being responsible for the entire sales cycle from lead to closure, you will work on that endeavour hand in hand with NanoPort (our demonstration facilities) colleagues, sales developers and product specialists, peer account managers, our service organization and last but not least the global trade compliance team. Annual and quarterly operation plans will be assigned, broken down into academia and industry, and to the territory level.
To maintain an excellent after-sales support, you will keep in close contact with our service colleagues. In collaboration with marketing and sales development you will make suggestions which events to support, and which other measures to take, and consequently you will have a share in driving those action items.
Reporting to the Sales Manager Surface Analysis EMEA, your agreed and approved strategies will be in line with the overall strategic objectives of the EMEA Material Science Commercial Organization. A high level of administrative professionalism, particularly in administrating your opportunities within our CRM system, is material for a smooth sales and service operation.
For the management of the distributors or agents within your responsibility, you will apply a metrics-based channel management system, in tune with the approach of your peers and senior management.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Typically requires an M.Sc. degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics.
- Business-fluent English and French is a must.
- Arab and/or Spanish would be useful, however is not obligatory.
Experience
- Extensive know-how and experience with XPS (X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) is required.
- Experience with other high-end analytical equipment (like SEM, TEM, EDS, EBSD, CL, Raman, related material science and/or industry specific techniques) will be favorable.
- Experience with a matrixed organization where you are accountable for clear communication throughout your team will be useful.
- Previous client-facing commercial experience is desirable.
