Job Overview

As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities. You’ll work closely with families, educators, and support staff to ensure that each student’s unique needs are met through tailored educational plans and engaging virtual teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to address each student’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Deliver instruction utilizing evidence-based teaching methods and adaptive technologies to support student learning in a virtual setting.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to foster inclusive practices and integrate students with disabilities into mainstream activities.
  • Monitor progress by conducting regular assessments, maintaining detailed records, and communicating frequently with parents/guardians about achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Manage behavior by applying behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement to create a supportive virtual learning environment.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team discussions, and professional development to enhance teaching skills and ensure compliance with special education regulations.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensing: Valid Louisiana Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Certification: Completion of the Louisiana Department of Education background check and certification requirements.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a virtual environment.
  • Commitment: Passion for creating a positive and inclusive learning experience to support the growth of students with disabilities.
