Commonwealth Financial Network is a leading Registered Investment Adviser with more than 2,000 independent financial advisors nationwide. The Product Lab is a central hub and center of excellence that offers consultation and hands on support for the management and development of our entire product mix and delivering on their roadmaps. Collaborating closely with different product portfolios within the organization, the Product Lab plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation and excellence while sharing best product practices. The lab also incubates large product initiatives and directly manages enterprise level products. This broad level of engagement not only offers significant opportunities for professional growth but also ensures wide-ranging visibility across the organization.

 

We’re looking for a director, product management to join our ranks. The right candidate will be instrumental in shaping our central product management function and processes by supporting our product and portfolio teams. This role will also support our enterprise-level products and initiatives. In addition to developing our overall portfolio and product strategies, this role will help build our product management practices within the Product Lab and drive company-wide product excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting, defining, and executing the overarching product strategy and roadmap for our products and platforms
  • Discovering, delivering, and optimizing products and platforms that fundamentally transform the advisor experience
  • Working with products and portfolios collaboratively to onboard them into the Product Lab
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders and leaders to ensure product strategies are seamlessly integrated and aligned with our business objectives
  • Providing hands-on mentorship and training to our product managers, helping them to develop essential skills and knowledge based on capability assessment and training plans
  • Incubating enterprise product offerings and platforms within the Product lab
  • Leading from conceptualization to delivery while setting up ongoing feedback and development cycles
  • Collaborating with our transformation office, strategy, marketing, and other teams to ensure we are following and developing the product operating model together
  • Keeping a close eye on product management practices and industry trends to help develop and improve our internal product management processes
  • Partnering with Product Analytics functions to create and provide frameworks; use product data to uncover opportunities, track product performance, and drive decision-making
  • Inspiring, enabling, and empowering teams to execute with a sense of urgency to deliver solutions
  • Establishing the vision, strategy, and execution of the financial products and services through understanding the strategic direction of the industry, technology architecture, and big-picture business needs
  • Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Core Strengths and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA highly preferred.)
  • 7+ years’ product management experience
  • Experience delivering 0 to 1 initiatives and platforms
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, including a passion for supporting and developing product managers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including a knack for building strong relationships with stakeholders and portfolio leaders
  • Ability to make well-informed decisions based on data and insights
  • Knowledge of market dynamics and the competitive landscape in cloud-native technologies, security, and compliance requirements, delivering SaaS products
