About the role
The Managing Consultant is responsible for commercial growth, the development of service areas, and for ensuring the quality of our delivery against clients' current and future needs. They are responsible for delivering significant revenue expectations. They will lead the development of IP and approaches within their service area, using this for sales and team training. They lead or review key proposals, lead the delivery of high-quality projects for clients, and coach senior and junior members of the team to improve performance across all areas.

1. Corporate strategy, portfolio planning, business development, commercial diligence, new product planning

What you'll do
  • Develop strategy and use resources in a manner that creates competitive differentiation
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and manage project teams and enhance strategic thinking across team members

  • Client Relationships
  • Understand client KPIs and objectives and build great client relationships
  • Ensure work is designed to exceed client expectations
  • Identify the need for project course corrections, and orchestrate them internally and externally
  • Navigate difficult conversations with clients and give challenging but constructive feedback
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and secure alignment across audiences, internal and external, from junior stakeholders to senior leadership

  • Internal relationships
  • Act as an ambassador for the vision, values and strategy of the business internally and externally, and ensure optimal cross-capability working
  • Effectively lead a team and build morale even under difficult circumstances
  • Always maintain excellent quality and timeliness of work
  • Organize tasks/workstreams to create high-performing teams, demonstrating excellent delegation and team management
  • Always give team members a genuine sense of their contribution to projects and ensure client feedback is communicated
  • Provide regular and consistent feedback to get the best out of the team

  • New Business and Commercials
  • Accountable for a significant (multi-million) revenue target
  • Identify new opportunities that extend Avalere Health’s capabilities across Consulting and the organization
  • Negotiate strategic and professional agreements that have a major positive impact on the business
  • Proactively identify and implement approaches to improve margin and profitability

  • About you
  • At least 7 years of experience within life science/healthcare consulting
  • Experience working with a range of pharmaceutical and biotech organizations to deliver commercial strategy across a range of therapeutic areas
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of our operating environment, industry and market factors that affect role and firm, using this to inform our activities
  • Proven track record in business development with a strong network
  • Able to pick up and develop client relationships and opportunities from first interaction (whether reactive or proactive), and pull them through into opportunities
