Grants and Contracts Associate for the College of Medicine Grants Management Office is an entry level position intended to provide the broad training and knowledge necessary to progress in the field of research administration. This position will be exposed to pre- and post- grant award activities. Working with more senior Grants and Contracts staff, the Associate assists with pre- and post-award activities for assigned departments and principal investigators (PIs). Assists with reviewing expenditure requests and effort review with guidance from colleagues or leadership; reviews expenditures against budget constraints; participates in providing pre-award grant support and assistance with formatting biographical sketches; assists with maintaining master other support documents using various University and Federal systems; assists with annual progress reports, builds knowledge of compliance in administrative policies and procedures by identifying areas of concern in areas such as interpreting  and enforcing sponsor guidelines, time and effort management,  allowable expenditures; updates and maintains PI current and pending and/or other support documentation, within the timeframe provided by the coordinating grant manager; performs additional duties as needed.

Minimum Education and Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office. Requires successful completion of a background check.  Ability to identify and analyze for discrepancies; Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks under deadline pressure; Strong attention to detail and accuracy; solid communication skills. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
