Role Description:
As a Database Engineer III at ShipBob, you will be working within a team handling all facets of the database environment, from assisting engineering teams in table design, to building databases, to working with our data warehouse. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, who can think quickly, and produce results.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases to support our applications and services.
- Manage the integrity, security and performance including query tuning and index maintenance.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
- Maintain database security by implementing appropriate controls and ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Develop processes and automation tools to streamline database management, such as backups, restores, monitoring and deployments.
- Collaborate with data and analytics engineers to support data warehousing and analytics efforts using Azure Synapse Analytics. Ensure data integration, ETL processes, and data storage are efficient and secure.
- Work closely with our development and devops teams to provide database support, including database changes, query optimization and troubleshooting issues.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand data requirements and develop logical and physical data models that support business needs.
- Stay up to date with the latest SQL Server features, best practices, and industry trends.

- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 6-9 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Solid understanding of SQL Server database architecture, design principles, and best practices.
- Experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Factory and related data services.
- Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and database performance tuning techniques.
- Experience with tools for database monitoring and performance analysis.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Knowledge of best practices in database security and experience with access control mechanisms.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Scala.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile and entrepreneurial environment.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $110,555 - $184,259.
