Job Summary

The position is a center led regional distribution and transportation role. This position works directly with business leaders, drayage providers, and air/ocean/ground carriers to ensure the successful execution of inbound/outbound tendering and completion of freight processes. Responsibilities include activities contributing to drayage, transloading & carrier set up, analyzing, evaluating, and defining root cause for operational rating issues.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the regional inbound delivery of international shipments
  • Leads deliveries for drayage/transload including air and ocean ports tracking, leverage of rail, trucking, and container devanning/consolidation
  • Leads operations/logistics planning and execution activities, including communicating those plans to carriers and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Tracks air delivery, import and air carrier delivery performance reporting
  • Utilizes Transportation Management tools (i.e. InfoNexus) and carrier-specific websites for air and ocean performance and delivery traceability
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect Spectrum Brands Transportation, i.e., costs, performance, on quality, on time, and in full
  • Provides Spectrum Brands Divisions transportation expertise on new initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Coordinates with production facility and logistics provider to ensure coverage on loads moving to distribution center
  • Assists in developing, maintaining, and evaluating carrier relationships with drayage, ocean and NVO partners
  • Manages and monitors performance metrics and reporting for internal Monthly Operations Review and coordinating monthly business reviews with drayage partners
  • Tracks and reports freight costs and maintain transportation KPIs
  • Drives visibility on freight movement, on quality, on time delivery, costs, and carrier performance
  • Manages dashboards and monitor performance metrics / reporting and assess/review performance of logistics network- examples: on time delivery, port, yard performance, aging container, air and transport shipments
  • Identifies, develops, and implements productivity improvements and other cost reduction strategies
  • Maintains and updates SOP and “playbook” documents on a regular basis and/or as processes and partners change
  • Escalates issues and challenges to both carrier contacts and SPB leadership team in a timely manner with appropriate details and timeframe

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business-related field is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of transportation/operations experience in managed freight movement is preferred

Required Skills

  • Must have the ability to work with other regions on the coordination of inbound and outbound shipments between regions
  • Must have the ability to work independently and drive 3rd party carriers on quality, performance, and cost
  • Must be proficient with technology to include Microsoft office, SAP, ERP, and TMS
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of contracts, KPI’s, and dashboards
  • Proven accomplishments in cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and timely

Work Environment

  • Ability to travel about 5% of time.
  • Perform moderate to complex administrative support duties to include composing and typing routine correspondence. Conduct research, compile, and type statistical reports, and verify accuracy as required. Organize and maintain routine and confidential files, correspondence, and other records.
  • Ability to answer phone calls and interact with carriers and customers on a regular basis.
