Position Overview:
The IT Architect is responsible for working with change, project and delivery teams translating business/project requirements into solution architecture/designs. IT Architects are responsible for leading the technical design stages, while providing consultancy during delivery to ensure solutions are delivered, as per the scope, requirements, and in line with an architectural framework/target state.
IT Architects work collaboratively with cross-functional delivery teams, including Digital, Data and Integration, Cloud, Infrastructure and Service Delivery / Transition, ensuring that technology solutions are scalable, secure by design, and in compliance with industry standards.
The IT Architects work together in collaboration with the Business Enterprise Architects to find opportunities to deliver value for our business, and support the alignment to the IT Strategy.
This position reports to the Head of IT Strategy and Architecture.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Produce architectural artefacts, including options papers, problem statements, and architectural solutions designs for change initiatives, inline with the architecture framework.
- Co-creating architectural ‘guardrails’, principles, models and recommendations and driving adherence when implementing transformation change initiatives, working towards the target state architecture.
- Identify and be accountable for potential architectural risks or issues during the formation of the solution proposing mitigation strategies.
- Support the definition and enforcement of IT architecture standards, ensuring that solutions adhere to industry best-practice and comply with key regulations.
- Presents recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely and can focus on key points to portray the intended message or purpose
- Creating high-impact artefacts that can summarize key information that is used to support business and technology decisions and further mature the architecture landscape.
- Provides consulting support to other IT delivery teams on projects to ensure technical solutions are aligned to technical standards and our enterprise architecture principles and ten commandments.
- Keep abreast with the latest technologies, tools and frameworks to ensure that the IT architecture remains current, effective and in line with our strategic technology goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Recognized as a top-level expert with significant in-depth and/or breadth of expertise applications, technologies and data solutions.
- A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes, and capabilities, enabling technologies and governance.
- Capable of applying architectural principles and frameworks to address business challenges.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.
- Team player, in a global organization and team, that can work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.
- Experience of working with the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) methodology.
- Strong data and integration skills, capable of delivering cloud-based technology solutions that seamlessly integrate diverse data sources and secure data flow across systems. Examples of cloud-based technologies include AWS native services and Snowflake.
- Proficiency in ETL and ELT processes, with experience in designing data pipeline solutions for efficient data extraction, transforming, and loading across various platforms.
Experience:
- IT Architecture experience of delivering technology-based solutions.
- Deep understanding of IT Architecture, including applications, data, integration technologies and Cloud.
- Proven track record of success in other IT organizations, delivering key transformation projects and technologies.
- Experienced in working closely and collaboratively with change, delivery, and support organizations.
- Certification in relevant architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Agile Architecture Framework)
- Experience of the asset management / investment management industry is desired.
