Job Specification for Senior Construction Estimator

Position: Senior Construction Estimator
Location: Pendeford, Wolverhampton
Working Arrangements: Office-based or flexible working options available

Company Overview:
The client is a dynamic and growing construction company specialising in Residential, Industrial, and Commercial projects. They are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our team and contribute to the success of securing new build and refurbishment contracts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Tender Preparation: Review and analyse tender documentation, including drawings and technical documents, to prepare accurate and detailed estimates.
  • Subcontract and Supplier Coordination: Arrange subcontract and supplier packages, perform take-offs, and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify queries and requirements.
  • Site Visits: Organise and conduct site visits, ensuring effective communication with clients, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Cost Evaluation: Assess cost factors such as production time, materials, equipment, and labour to optimise project profitability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with consultants, clients, and contractors to ensure project success.
  • Pricing Review: Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure compliance with pricing requirements.
  • Value Engineering: Provide cost-effective, value-engineered solutions and submit tenders accordingly.
  • Project Handover: Successfully transfer awarded projects to the construction team for execution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Degree in construction or a related field is preferred, though significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience as an Estimator with a principal contractor in the UK.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Excel; familiarity with Causeway estimating software is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective liaison with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
    • Capability to meet stringent deadlines and handle the pressures of the role.
