Overview

 

As we continue our exciting growth, we are building teams with highly talented individual contributors and leaders. We are seeking an experienced and seasoned Director of Tax to establish and enhance our tax organization, including international expansion and structuring, manage external advisors supporting the function, direct and oversee the tax function and compliance, and enable our strategic tax plans. You will report to the Senior Vice President, Finance as well as have significant engagement with the Chief Financial Officer and key members of the finance and Company management team.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for initiating and developing tax planning and strategies that are in line with the company business growth plan.
  • Responsible for feasibility analyses and related execution of various global tax initiatives that support the business strategies and improve tax efficiency of our global expansion.
  • Actively monitor US, state, International and tax legislative and judicial actions, analyze potential impacts/benefits, and implement mitigation or action plans for the Company.
  • Oversee all aspects of global tax compliance matters, including VAT matters, structuring and the execution and management of our international structure.
  • Work cross-functionally with business partners and other corporate functions such as legal, business units, supply chain on new business initiatives, new market penetrations and operations, and tax efficient supply chain structures implementation to ensure optimal tax outcomes.
  • Manage worldwide GAAP tax provision. Including tax reserves and related disclosures. Monitoring the business and tax environment to ensure that the tax reserves are reasonable.
  • Responsible for providing forecasts and guidance with respect to GAAP effective tax rates. Work closely with the Corporate Accounting and FP&A teams to ensure GAAP tax provision is properly forecasted in the plan.
  • Responsible for monitoring the control environment and ensuring that all SOX controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively while ensuring no deficiencies from a tax perspective.
  • Partner with the accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate information is obtained and lead the preparation, review and filing of the Company's worldwide income and indirect tax returns.
  • Oversee and manage U.S. federal and state income and foreign income tax compliance including international components of the US tax return (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, etc.).
  • Develop and implement transfer pricing strategies. Lead review, analysis, implementation and tracking of all global transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting and or managing the completion of benchmarking and comparable analysis, modeling the transfer pricing impacts of new business initiatives, tax structures, and market penetrations, and completing all relevant transfer pricing documentation required to comply with U.S. and international statutory compliance and disclosure requirements.
  • Effectively summarize and communicate key elements of the tax provision to senior management.
  • Effectively communicate with external and internal auditors.
  • Continuously improve the processes and systems relating to the tax function.
  • Must adhere to Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

 

  • Masters in Tax required, CPA and Big Four experience preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporation, progressively responsible tax experience in roles focused on US and international direct and indirect tax, strategic tax planning, foreign tax management and transfer pricing.
  • Strong background in all facets of accounting for income tax, including U.S. and international tax provisions and the related provision impact.
  • Hands on experience with leading, designing and implementing cross-border international tax planning, tax efficient new market penetrations and supply chain planning, managing foreign indirect tax matters (VAT, GST, etc.), and transfer pricing.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage tax advisors.
  • Excellent decision-making capabilities with thorough understanding of various drivers impacting the decision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate (both oral and written). with all levels including executive leadership.
  • Must have a customer service mind-set and a team player mentality.
  • Must have a positive, strong, proactive work ethic approach.
