Job description

uConnect is on a mission to help more people realize their potential by improving access to career resources and services - early in their lives and throughout their careers. Initially focused on the post-secondary higher education market, uConnect's All-In-One Virtual Career Center is used by schools like UCLA, MIT, and Baton Rouge Community College to radically increase student and alumni engagement with career services, and integrate career planning into the student experience, before, during and after college.

We are committed to lowering barriers to opportunity for students and recent graduates from all backgrounds. Our customers are some of the most dedicated and capable career services professionals in the world and our software helps them be even more successful in their mission of helping students.

We have created a working environment that is fun and collaborative and puts people first. We have a physical office in Cambridge, MA but operate as a remote-first organization, encouraging mobility for all employees, and to work from their chosen environment. uConnect is backed by leading education technology investors including Growth Street Partners, Strada Education and LearnLaunch.

About the Role:
At uConnect, our sales team is dedicated to bringing uConnect’s Virtual Career Center platform to colleges and universities and educational organizations around the world. This role is a great opportunity for a competitive sales professional with a track record of achievement in enterprise sales in a highly consultative environment to be a part of an impactful product that encourages lifelong learning.

For this role, we are looking for a high-achieving hunter. You'll own the full sales cycle and reap the rewards for the all business you close with uncapped commission at a very competitive rate. We need someone who will take the time to build strong connections with our future partners but also knows how to drive the process forward in the sometimes slow-moving world of higher education. We're looking for a passion for success, genuine belief in our mission, and a lot of hustle!

What you'll be doing:
  • Achieving annual sales quota by cultivating strong, consultative relationships with educational institutions around the country.
  • Building a strong pipeline of opportunity within your territory by attending industry events, researching potential leads, networking, social media exposure, and following up on qualified leads.
  • Evangelizing the uConnect platform and revolution at industry events and across your social media channels.
  • Working closely with Product and Marketing teams to help us get better/faster/stronger and stay responsive to customer needs.
  • Delivering demos and sales presentations both online and in-person.
  • Identifying new areas for sales opportunity and revenue growth.

  • What we'd expect in an ideal candidate:
  • Background as a Business Development Representative and experience handling a high-volume of outbound and inbound interactions.
  • Proven track record in delivering $500K+ in annual sales.
  • Experience of closing consultative customer deals in a B2B sales environment (bonus points for SaaS B2B).
  • A knack for identifying and developing customer champions to improve conversion.
  • Disciplined working in a CRM system (eg, Hubspot) to manage your pipeline.
  • Demonstrated track record of opening new business relationships with mid-sized and larger institutions and / or businesses.
  • Comfortable working in a remote-first setting, including working knowledge of common tools for collaborating remotely (ie. Zoom, Slack, G Suite etc.)

  • What you'll get:
  • Uncapped PTO (with 15 day minimum expectation)
  • Remote work and flexible schedule
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Company holidays including the week between Christmas and New Years
  • $100 monthly benefit towards Employee Health and Wellness
  • Professional Development & Mentorship Program
  • Education reimbursement of up to $1,000 yearly
  • 401k Retirement Plan with 3% Company Match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Being in a position to help shape our company culture and deliver on our mission.
  • Working in an organization that values merit over seniority, title, or past experiences. We seek to always have the best ideas win, and for performance to always be recognized.
  • Broad exposure to a quickly-growing start-up and lots of opportunities to have an outsized impact on our work.
  • Being able to work with an amazing team that's highly collaborative and is constantly pushing each other to grow personally and professionally.
  • What else should you know?
We are a highly driven team, motivated by pushing each other to grow personally and professionally. We've created a working environment that is fun and collaborative and puts people first. We have a physical office in Cambridge, MA, but operate as a remote-first organization, encouraging all employees' mobility and working from their chosen environment. We offer competitive compensation and benefits and are committed to being an equal opportunity employer.
