Perficient currently has a career opportunity for an API Engineer/Architect-APIGEE. This is a hands on role. While our headquarters location is St. Louis, MO, this position is remote and can be based anywhere within the United States and will be working CT and ET zones.

Job Overview:

As an API Architect-APIGEE, you will participate in the definition and implementation of leading API management technologies to transform enterprises into the digital economy.

You will drive all aspects of the software development lifecycle which includes estimating, design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of applications developed for our clients. As a member in our team environment you will collaborate with other solution architects and developers on interpretation and translation of wireframes and functional requirements—leading to production quality applications and solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical planning & requirements gathering phases including estimate, develop, test, manage projects, architect and deliver.
  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor. Provide technical expertise and leadership in the development and continual improvement of Perficient Solutions.
  • Responsible for the delivery of sophisticated API Management solutions.
  • Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions.
  • Support Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in architecting API solutions
  • Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience architecting and delivering Apigee solutions
  • Advanced understanding/exposure to API management concepts
  • Solid understanding of API Products, Apps, Analytics and API economy concepts
  • MUST have Apigee X and or Apigee Hybrid Experience.
  • Experience with COE preferred.
  • Experience developing API strategy and capability roadmaps aligning to enterprise goals
  • Experience defining API governance, standards & best practices, and center of excellence
  • Experience developing API architectures, implementations, integrations, and deployments
  • Deep understanding of Apigee components and infrastructure deployment models
  • Understanding of Microservices architecture and patterns, microgateway (preferred Apigee), Istio, docker, kubernetes fundamentals
  • Understanding of security principals integrating single page apps, mobile apps, and third party systems using OAuth2, SSO, OpenID Connect, JWT
  • Experience designing and developing security policies and custom integrations with IAM Systems (like Okta, AD, Azure AD)
  • Experience developing APIs, proxies, swaggers, and policies development with Apigee
  • Experience with Apigee Portal, Portal customization and integration with Apigee Edge using, Drupal, NodeJS, JavaScript
  • Experience with load balancers, firewalls, TCP, TLS, SSH, automated testing of APIs, Jenkins, CI/CD etc. concepts a plus

Preferred skills and education:

  • Client facing or consulting experience highly preferred
  • Enterprise Architecture experience highly preferred
  • Mulesoft, Data Power, Boomi experience nice to have
  • Apigee certifications / skill badges nice to have
  • GCP, AWS, Azure Cloud experience a plus
  • Experience working with a globally distributed team and managing off-shore teams

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $81,978 to $178,090. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
