About The Job
As Sr Category Manager, you will support and partner with development teams in the categories of supplies, transportation and logistics, marketing, travel, and other assigned projects. The position is responsible for the day-to-day procurement operation as well as the strategic sourcing initiatives that deliver targeted productivity savings, contributes to improving network efficiencies and meeting quality and service expectations.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies and productivity programs in order to optimize category spend and maximize the potential value of the supply markets, emerging supplier capabilities, and the business while ensuring their integration into the overall strategies of Procurement.
- Create and execute action plans to achieve category objectives through identifying risks and obstacles and creating strategies and tactics to surmount obstacles.
- Effectively communicate the opportunity profile of each category and develops the new productivity ideas. Support development and productivity pipeline and cash flow improvement initiatives.
- Manage all procurement-related activities to source requested distribution services based upon contract work plans and business requirements.
- Lead bid events including screening, communications, RFP, RFQ, negotiations, and contracting/administration for responsible categories. Prepare recommendations for vendor selection based on hands on knowledge of the 7-steps Strategic Sourcing Methodology.
- Lead, manage, and execute negotiation preparation and planning for responsible categories.
- Conduct negotiations employing appropriate techniques and solicits cross-functional input as appropriate.
- Negotiate contracts for all categories under Procurement scope to ensure the Company receives the best possible prices, terms, and conditions to gain a competitive advantage vs. the peer group companies/competitors for a scope of responsibility, without losing quality of any distribution services and meeting service and quality requirements. This also includes the development of master contracts for negotiations.
- Establish and maintain alliances with key internal and external stakeholders focused on total cost of ownership solutions.
- Utilize market analysis and market intelligence to provide category expertise for industry dynamics including economic/market conditions, complexity of players and contingency plans to address unforeseen fall-out.
- Leverage local, regional, and global sourcing strategies.
- Actively manage supplier performance.
- Promotes and ensures adherence to Procurement Policies and Procedures.
- Adheres to internal controls, use of eProcurement tools, and the practice of ethical behavior and Business Code of Conduct policy.
- Demonstrate a service-oriented mentality and a high sense of ownership of the assigned problems and requests.

What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
- 7+ years of Procurement experience, preferably with a large retailer.
- 5+ years of experience leading a Procurement team. Strong supervisory, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- 5+ In deep experience working with Coupa.
- Business and Financial Acumen (ability to present data analysis to effectively identify value opportunities).
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Functional work experience, including negotiating supplies, marketing, and logistics.
- Strategic thinking supported with expert knowledge of procurement practices.
- Aptitude for solving complex problems and influencing stakeholders, and the intuitive foresight to envision and orchestrate effective change by setting a strategic direction to deliver against key financial and growth objectives.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing, process improvement and creative solutions to conceive, communicate and lead the development and implementation of a wide variety of strategies and productivity initiatives in support of all key Procurement and company-wide initiatives.
- Project management skills: ability to manage people, tasks, and assignments, and hold staff, vendor, and self, accountable for deadlines.
- Results driven with proven ability, composure, and judgment in consistently making cost effective decisions on a timely basis by utilizing others to deliver systemic and sustainable improvements in a quality manner despite obstacles.
- Highly effective at leading and managing negotiations resulting in a win/win conclusion. Exercise exceptional persuasion skills in dealing with divergent opinions across supplier base and within the Company to successfully achieve company objectives.

- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from a remote office location.

The starting salary for this position is $80,700 - $134,500 and may increase to $168,200 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
