Exasol is seeking a seasoned DevOps Engineer with a Linux-centric mindset to architect, champion, and continually refine our development and test infrastructure. Join us in building and evolving a high-velocity, high-availability Linux cluster that fuels the engine of our development teams, enabling them to create groundbreaking products that delight our customers.

Key responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with development and IT teams to design, build, and maintain a robust, secure, and scalable Linux-based infrastructure that propels our development initiatives to new heights. Your expertise will directly impact the speed and agility of our development process.
  • Partner with development teams to continually refine and elevate our test orchestration and scheduling tool chain, ensuring that thousands of critical tests run seamlessly and efficiently every hour. Your work will guarantee the quality and reliability of our products.
  • Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues with a sense of urgency, and implement system updates to guarantee smooth operations and an environment that is always at peak performance. Your vigilance will safeguard our development ecosystem.
  • Leverage your mastery of configuration management tools to automate server provisioning and software installations, reducing manual effort, accelerating deployment, and minimizing the risk of human error.
  • Create and maintain meticulous, user-friendly documentation that empowers your team, safeguards knowledge for the future, and ensures continuity even as our systems evolve.
Required Qualifications:
  • Deep expertise in Linux system administration, shell scripting, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Strong proficiency in Python development to create scripts and tools that enhance automation and streamline processes.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt, demonstrating your ability to manage infrastructure as code.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools, enabling you to detect and respond to potential issues before they impact development.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad, highlighting your ability to create portable, scalable applications.
  • Exceptional English communication skills, a passion for problem-solving, and a collaborative spirit that fosters teamwork and knowledge-sharing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with C++ development, showcasing your versatility and ability to contribute to performance-critical components.
  • Experience with workload manager software (Nomad, Slurm, etc.), demonstrating your ability to optimize resource allocation and job scheduling.
  • Exposure to OpenStack and cloud technology (AWS, Azure, GCP), indicating your adaptability to evolving infrastructure paradigms.
  • Fluency in German, enabling seamless communication with our international teams.
