Impact-Comms Intern

Remote within the US

World Vision Internships offer a three-month opportunity for talented students and recent graduates eager to dive into the international relief and development field. We’re dedicated to giving you a meaningful learning experience, where you’ll grow, gain valuable skills, and connect with other passionate professionals who share our mission.

Internship Opportunity

VisionFund (VF), the microfinance arm of World Vision, provides credit, insurance, and savings to underserved communities worldwide. We invest in the agency and God-given potential of our clients and see God grow new small businesses, human potential, and children’s futures, through our work.

We’re excited to invite you to join our VisionFund Strategy Team as an intern! You’ll help us shape and share our strategies, client success stories, and the impact of our work. Your role will be crucial in expanding the reach of our microfinance efforts and enhancing our communications.

Our team consists of three sub-teams: Strategy, Impact-Data, and Marketing & Communication (M&C). As an intern, you'll work primarily with the M&C team while closely collaborating with Impact-Data. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and make a real difference.

What You'll Do:

  • Uncover Impact Stories: Dive into our data to find and craft engaging stories that showcase the real-world impact of our work.

  • Create Compelling Content: Develop exciting content for our website, social media, and other communications to share our mission and successes.

  • Innovate Data Storytelling: Experiment with new ways to present our impact data through creative communications and marketing materials.

  • Explore the Microfinance Sector: Research the role of microfinance, learn from industry experts, and translate these insights into impactful communications.

  • Master the Impact Database: Get to know our Impact Database, work closely with the Impact Team, and become skilled in managing and accessing data.

Why Join us:

  • Make a Real Impact Across Teams: As an intern, you'll engage deeply with various teams, diving into impact analysis, research, and crafting messages for donors and stakeholders. You'll be at the heart of key groups driving organizational change, gaining hands-on experience in areas that truly matter.

  • Expand Your Horizons: Explore the international relief sector, unleash your leadership skills, and strengthen your Christian faith with Weekly Professional Development Sessions

  • Transform Lives: Take on challenging and meaningful work assignments while developing your technical skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience.

  • Join an Inspiring Community: Form connections with a diverse nationwide intern cohort and colleagues who, inspired by their Christian faith, support children of all backgrounds, even in the most dangerous places.

What You'll Bring:

  • Innovative Poverty Solutions: You are interested in new ways of addressing poverty. You re-think, and sometimes doubt, the accepted pillars of poverty alleviation and are open to embracing new, tested, approaches

  • Content Creation Enthusiasm: You love creating content. And understand communication as both an art and a science. You are creative and you recognize the value of data-led storytelling which is compelling – even to cold audiences.

  • Experienced Writing: You have experience writing – and ideally publishing (online or through websites/magazines) content. You are used to and open to being guided and edited in your work and see feedback as a gift that God uses to grow our skill sets.

  • Online Research Skills: You have experience in conducting thorough and effective online research to support your work and insights.

  • Passionate Communication: You are passionate about using your God-given communication talents and are keen to widen your hands-on experience in the poverty and microfinance sector.

  • Commitment to our Mission: You have a demonstrated commitment to and alignment with the goals, mission, and vision of World Vision, embodying its values in all aspects of your work.
