Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Land Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and securing land for the development of solar energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects across Germany. This remote role requires extensive travel within the country and a deep understanding of land acquisition processes, legal requirements, and the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Land Identification and Evaluation:

    • Identify suitable land for solar and BESS projects through desktop research, site visits, and consultation with local authorities and stakeholders.
    • Conduct due diligence to assess the feasibility of land for project development, considering environmental, legal, and technical constraints.
  • Landowner Negotiations:

    • Engage with landowners to negotiate lease agreements, purchase options, and other land-related contracts.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local communities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Contract Management:

    • Draft, review, and manage land acquisition contracts, ensuring compliance with German legal standards and company policies.
    • Work closely with legal teams to address any land-related issues or disputes.
  • Permitting and Compliance:

    • Coordinate with local authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals for land use and project development.
    • Ensure that all land acquisition activities comply with regional and national regulations, including zoning, environmental protection, and renewable energy policies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with internal teams, including project development, engineering, legal, and finance, to ensure smooth project progression.
    • Regularly report on land acquisition progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
  • Market Analysis and Strategy:

    • Stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities in the German renewable energy sector.
    • Develop and implement land acquisition strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Land Management, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land acquisition or management, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of German land laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of securing land for large-scale projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a remote setting.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Germany.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in solar and/or BESS project development.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and land evaluation software.
  • Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and sustainable land use practices.
