Overview:

Cordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering firm based in California. We seek a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to support Cordoba’s Transportation Sector. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of mechanical systems and components for public facilities, including transit, aviation, and maintenance facilities. Working collaboratively with the client, stakeholders, and other Cordoba team members, you will be involved with design projects, ensuring that designs meet stringent industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and report on existing building mechanical equipment and systems
  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical engineering design, specification preparation, inspection work, estimating, and related work for HVAC systems, fire suppression systems, plumbing systems, and related facility systems.
  • Conduct technical analyses, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet client, contract, performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with contractual requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Identify and resolve engineering challenges, providing innovative solutions to complex problems that maximize value for our clients.
  • Stay informed about relevant codes and standards for transportation facility designs and ensure their correct application in all projects.
  • Support design staff with all engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Oversee and manage mechanical engineering tasks from concept through to implementation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure high standards in mechanical design.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other aspects of the project’s design and construction while helping to ensure the project remains on schedule and within budget.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate effectively: Coordinate with team members and other design disciplines to ensure cohesive and integrated project outcomes.
  • Communicate often, clearly, and at the right level of detail.
Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • California Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain within one year after hire.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering facility design, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for light-rail systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently.
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company.
  • Open to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering for rail or bus transit maintenance facilities is highly preferred but not required.

 

Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 per year.

Work Location: Remote, Southern California preferred, other California locations will be considered.
