Job description

Harbor is seeking a Human Resource Systems Analyst to fill a new role on our rapidly expanding global Talent team.  This individual will maintain the integrity and reliability of the Company’s Human Resources systems, ensuring the applications meet the needs, requirements, and objectives of the Talent team and the Company.  The ideal candidate is an intellectually curious problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the interworking’s of the HR function, and has the technical experience and acumen to align the systems, governance, and workflows in support of highly efficient work streams.  This can be a hybrid position from either Chicago, IL or Moncton, NB or can work anywhere remotely in Canada or the US.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Talent team to determine the short- and long-term information and system objectives; develops a project plan and roadmap to modify or replace HR systems and modules to meet those objectives
  • Assesses HR current systems and utilization; identifies and recommends improvements such as training, customization, and enhancements to maximize value and efficiency
  • Gathers requirements from stakeholders including interviews, design sessions, surveys and other approaches as required; Prepares reports and presents findings
  • Partners with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into innovative and functional solutions; acts as a liaison among stakeholders, Talent, IT and other applicable teams
  • Identifies, recommends, and programs custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, macros, and reports
  • Generates automated and ad hoc reports for Talent and the business as needed
  • Plans, modifies, and customizes the systems and tests new applications and features
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments with HR providers, vendors, and technology
  • Performs vendor evaluations and/or implementations of third-party solutions
  • Assumes system ownership of HR system for governance, data integrity, customizations, documentation, configurations, upgrades, issue escalation, functionality expertise as well as general user questions, troubleshooting and training
  • Analyzes, cleanses, manages and validates data; undertakes data ownership in systems to facilitate data integrity
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, HR or related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience with HR business systems
  • Previous experience working with data integration and/or vendor feeds
  • Flexibility to work on a mix of technical and non-technical assignments
  • Understanding of Relational Database Concepts , preferably Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL is a plus
  • Experience with integration enabling tools a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough understanding of functional analysis, workflows and system design
