Job Description

As a Cloud Engineer you are responsible for helping our developer community and Cloud support teams with automated Cloud solutions. You would be working closely with Cloud Architects to design and develop solutions. Within this position, you are responsible for various project aspects of the Cloud (AWS) hosted application lifecycle to ensure that fitting solutions are provided to suit Fugro’s business and innovation requirements. If you want to work in a hybrid Cloud setup and challenge yourself to have workable solutions with colleagues from other disciplines (networking, security, virtualization, on-prem infrastructure and edge computing), this position might be interesting for you!

Your role

• You are part of the Cloud Services team and compliment the team with your Infrastructure as Code skills;

• You work closely with architects, Regional Cloud Support and product development teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for Fugro;

• You will support product development teams with your technical skills to improve cloud maturity of their environment;

• You will work with the FinOps lead to develop solutions which will help optimize Fugro’s cloud consumption;

• You will work with our security team to come up with solutions to further enhance Fugro’s security stance on our Cloud platforms;

• You will work hand in hand with other Cloud Engineers to ensure a standardized approach;

• You will work with other teams in our hybrid setup to make sure optimal solution is designed and implemented;

• You will contribute to setting up cloud best practices for the development teams;

• You will hand off implemented solutions to operational teams with needed support and documentation;

• You will be ambassador of Fugro’s Cloud Principle and will contribute to further improvise these principles with changing times;

• You promote cyber security initiatives and directly advise on best practices for securing deployment and use of applications in line with requirements and Fugro policies.

Your track record

• You have a BSc degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years experience in building and implementing strategic cloud infrastructures on AWS and containerized deployment systems;

• You are good in infrastructure as code and are skilled in Terraform/Ansible/AWS/CDK/AWS CloudFormation/ARM Templates and CI/CD pipelines like Github Actions/AWS Code pipeline;

• You have hands-on experience with scripting in Python/Node/Go, but also in microservices and serverless patterns;

• You are experienced in Docker, K8s, AWS Lambda and basic understanding of networking in Cloud;

• You have excellent English language skills, both written and oral.
