Job Description
On a day-to-day basis, you will manage the infrastructure that delivers the self managed & managed services to our customers in our server brands based in the UK.
You should have at least 8-10 years of experience in an IT Systems role (5 years as a Linux/Windows senior administrator/engineer within the ISP industry).
In performing your duties, you will always be expected to use your best endeavours to promote and maintain the company's interests and reputation.
This role is either completely remote (UK-based only), or working from our Worcester or Reading offices.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting existing platforms, ensuring optimal operation and uptimes of systems and services
- Design and deploy new customer and product solutions.
- Document solutions and builds to provide a knowledgebase to other administrators.
- Resolve escalated issues, sharing with and coaching other departmental staff.
- Liaise with customers to ensure the smooth running of systems and roadmap future requirements.
- Implement and maintain effective monitoring of systems and services.
- Join the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support.
- Occasional travel to various offices and data centres.
Required skills and experience:
- Very strong IT skills in an Internet environment.
- Strong Windows Server administration skills in a hosting environment.
- Strong experience involving SQL systems admin, specifically MSSQL Server MySQL/MariaDB.
- Experience with Dell server hardware.
- Experience with common web platforms (Umbraco/Magento/WordPress) and their setup/operation.
- Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam/R1soft/Acronis).
- Experience with load balancing and HA platforms (DB replication/load balancing).
- Knowledge and experience with at least one shell scripting language (I.e. bash, PowerShell etc).
- Knowledge and experience with configuration management tooling (I.e., Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Salt etc).
- Experience with handling security issues and access control mechanisms.
- Experience with change management and configuration policies.

Working Hours:
Your usual work hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. working in a team, Monday to Friday inclusive over two differing shifts. However, these may be subject to alteration by the dictates of the business.
