The Division for Land-Grant Engagement at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a (Remote) Program Coordinator.

About The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Program Coordinator for the West Virginia University SNAP-Ed program, with additional responsibilities as a Data Management Specialist. The incumbent will coordinate program activities, facilitate community outreach, and ensure the efficient operation of SNAP-Ed initiatives. Additionally, this position requires expertise in data management and analysis, utilizing ArcGIS/ESRI software and Microsoft Excel to collect, manage, and interpret data critical to the program's success and impact assessment. The coordinator will work collaboratively with a diverse team to support the university's mission of enhancing public health and fostering community well-being.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with the public health specialist to implement state-wide public health programming
  • Train FNP staff to implement SNAP-Ed public health programs; develop training materials, including written documents, narrated powerpoints, and conduct webinars; provide group and in-person training to staff, as needed
  • Research and identify evidence-based evaluation and reporting tools for use in SNAP-Ed public health programming.
  • Create and implement public health data collection tools in a variety of platforms, including Qualtrics, Google and Microsoft Workspace, and Esri
  • Collect, analyze, and manage data related to public health program development and implementation
  • Assist SNAP-Ed director by:
    • Developing annual SNAP-Ed plan of work and DoHS statement of work
    • Engaging in continuous process evaluation to improve the implementation of the state SNAP-Ed plan
    • Providing assistance to SNAP-Ed Director to monitor compliance with federal SNAP-Ed Guidance and creating quarterly/yearly reports.
    • Providing written reports to the SNAP-Ed director, summarizing data and impact of SNAP-Ed public health programming.


  • Develop internal and external partnerships within the state, to further the goals and expand the reach of the state SNAP-Ed plan to provide nutrition education and obesity prevention activities
  • Represent FNP and SNAP-Ed in local and state-wide coalitions:
    • Create and present reports to external groups regarding the impact of SNAP-Ed programming;
    • Attend state, regional, and national conferences, as required;
    • Attend and participate in professional development and employee training associated with this position
  • Assist with sub-contractor oversight by providing public health training, technical assistance, and guidance on data collection and reporting. Collaborate with sub-contracts to provide information and share data to allow tracking of state-wide program implementation.
  • Contribute data and visual analyses to papers, reports, social media and other research outputs; Support grant-seeking efforts that advance the research mission of the WVU Family Nutrition Program; Develop and manage GIS applications and other software tools for external and internal partners
  • Create a variety of data visualizations through the use of maps in ArcGIS Pro and interactive Dashboards created in ArcGIS Online.
  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, public health, or related field;
  • Six (6) months experience working with ARCGIS and mapping systems
  • Two (2) years’ experience in exercise science, nutrition, public health and administration, and/or program management
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Maintains skills in, or knowledge of, professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
  • Ability to identify community networks to communicate information.
  • Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Knowledge of the mission, goals, and policies of the program. Knowledge of current research, issues, and concerns in child health, specifically obesity prevention
  • Willingness to seek consultation and supervision as needed.
  • Willingness to learn new skills when needed.
  • Knowledge of research methodology.
  • Knowledge of program development and management. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Demonstrated skills to work collaboratively to conduct teaching, research, and service activities with academic faculty, community partners, staff, extension educators and funders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to plan and prioritize tasks. Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
