Your missions

Head of Protection and Partnerships - Home Based - ARD1032006

Our Head of Protection and Partnerships is responsible for the future strategy of Geo’s specialist proposition to market, the trading performance and growth strategy and the ongoing attraction of talent and colleague development. You will own the existing Group Life and Fee Protection portfolio and look to further develop that proposition alongside identifying new partnership and affinity opportunities across the varied MGA wide product suite with the key metrics being Gross Written Premium, Income, Staff Costs, Operating Costs and EBITDA.

What you will do as our Head of Protection & Partnerships:

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

P&L responsibility

  • People leadership, training, and development including;
  • Lead the underwriting teams across applicable locations.
  • Be “the face of” Geo Protection both internally and externally.
  • Lead and own key Insurer and major partnership relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to the technical pricing model and framework is in place to maximise the selection of risks within appetite and establish processes to monitor business being underwritten.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the underwriting footprint – for example, through the use of external data to determine geographical risk, street pricing flexibility etc.
  • In conjunction with other functions (in particular, Pricing and Sales/Distribution) monitor the underwriting and trading results, contributing to identifying and capturing growth opportunities and establishing remedial plans where required.
  • Manage the “internal” Underwriting Governance Framework – including licensing, monitoring of QA activity (and subsequent actions), managing internal audits and the authority/binder breach processes.
  • In conjunction with other functions, participate in new product innovation and existing product management that improves income and margin for the MGA business.
  • Develop and implement a future affinities and partnership proposition utilising the specialist products across the MGA.
  • As a member of the GEO leadership team, contribute towards the development and execution of the wider MGA strategy.

What we are looking in our Head of Protection & Partnerships:

  • Underwriting and/or Broking experience.
  • Experience within senior management roles in the UK Insurance sector.
  • Wide exposure to all segments of the UK Retail and Wholesale insurance distribution.
  • A strong appreciation and understanding of the construction industry and insurance market.
  • Senior level network within both intermediaries and insurers.
  • Ideally educated to degree standard and/or ACII qualified.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of Business Awareness through knowledge of the Insurance industry, MGAs and the Lloyds market with the ability to transfer this quickly to specific business area or situation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyses base data and provide commercially sound and viable business solutions.
  • Ability to communicate facts clearly both written and verbal to pears and senior management adapting content and approach as necessary.
  • Able to demonstrate very strong influencing, negotiating and motivational skills
  • Have a track record that shows an ability to react positively and effectively to customer needs with a helpful manner.
