The Role:

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Flowie, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems with a focus on one or more of the following product areas: banking, financing, ledger systems, payment rails, and card systems. Your product knowledge will help shape our strategy and ensure we deliver innovative and high-quality solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Development:
   • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for banking, financing, ledger, payment rails, or card systems.
   • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
2. System Architecture:
   • Lead the architectural design of complex backend systems, making decisions on frameworks, tools, and technology stacks.
   • Ensure systems are designed for high availability, scalability, and performance.
3. Integration and API Development:
   • Develop and maintain APIs for integrating with various financial systems and third-party services.
   • Ensure seamless integration of backend services with frontend applications and other systems.
4. Performance Optimization:
   • Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
   • Anticipate future growth and implement solutions that can scale accordingly.
5. Code Quality and Standards:
   • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
   • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver comprehensive solutions.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend and frontend components.
7. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
   • Resolve complex technical issues and provide support for critical production incidents.
   • Ensure quick resolution of software-related problems to maintain system reliability.
8. Innovation and Best Practices:
   • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices in backend development and financial systems.
   • Propose innovative solutions to challenging problems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
9. Security and Compliance:
   • Ensure backend systems follow security best practices and comply with relevant regulations.
   • Identify potential vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.
