About This Role

As Principle Pricing Strategist within the Product Pricing & Licensing team you will deeply understand our products, customers, and the market, and use this to develop pricing and packaging strategies that propel us forward in our mission to give every organization the power to innovate through software. In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing pricing strategies, tactics, and policies that maximize revenue, profitability, and market competitiveness. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, marketing, services, and finance to ensure our pricing strategies align with our overall business objectives. 


What You Will Lead/Do or Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product management to conduct customer discovery and make monetization decisions for all  planned new features as part of the business planning process

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative pricing market research and competitive assessment to make pricing and packaging decisions for new roadmap features

  • Design and implement pricing policies, discount structure, and pricing processes that improve price performance

  • Partner with sales enablement and other teams to ensure sales teams are well versed, confident, and prepared to discuss pricing with customers

  • Manage the annual price increase process, including strategy, analysis, and execution planning

  • Leverage usage data and price performance data to identify price improvement opportunities

  • Support the evolution and optimization of our pricing and packaging model to deliver continuous improvements in growth and profitability

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, sales, finance, marketing teams to align pricing strategies with product roadmap and go-to-market plans

  • Collaborate closely with Finance to develop deep insight into cloud infrastructure costs to ensure pricing supports appropriate margins

  • Engage regularly with sales to ensure feedback is captured and leveraged in pricing decisions

Qualifications / What You Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or related field.  An MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus. 

  • 7+ years of pricing strategy experience in a SaaS or technology company focused on leveraging deep customer and market insights to design and optimize pricing models for business outcomes. 

  • In-depth understanding of SaaS business models, cloud-native technologies, and industry trends

  • Comprehensive understanding of SaaS pricing models including subscription, hybrid, and usage-based pricing models

  • Experience pricing cloud infrastructure and services 

  • Mastery of value-based pricing principles and concepts 

  • Fluency in qualitative and quantitative pricing research techniques including customer discovery interviews, Economic Value Estimation, Van Westendorps, Conjoint, Gabor Granger, and MaxDiff

  • The ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and influence stakeholders 

  • A blend of business and technical acumen that allows you to speak clearly about business impact and customer outcomes as well as product experiences and architectures

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to drive complex pricing and packaging decisions to completion with impact

  • Ability to assess the impact of cloud costs on margins and pricing strategies
