Position Description:
We are looking for a Fiber Designer to join our ICE team to help improve infrastructure in our Midwest offices. The candidate must have two to five years of experience in related design work, with 1+ years’ experience in OSP design (preferably in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or other GIS based platforms). Experience assigning fiber counts to homes and determining splice locations as well as an ability to interpret GIS design and draft a cohesive construction drawing in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Maps 3D are all required. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Typical responsibilities include: Responsible for interpreting, analyzing, organizing, executing, and coordinating new design projects and/or revisions to existing projects of varying scales and complexity Apply engineering principles and procedures while performing engineering design work • Perform design calculations as needed Provide design details as needed Seek resolutions on non-standard analytical problems Create estimated time requirements for projects Attend project-specific meetings to determine CAD schedules Save project-specific data on a daily and weekly basis Verify field survey notes Assist Project Managers as needed Attend meetings as needed Maintain excellent client relations Maintain a safe working environmentEducation:High School Diploma is requiredSkills/Experience:2 to 5 years of related work experience is required1+ years’ experience in OSP design (preferably in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or other GIS based platforms) is requiredAbility to design FTTx systems in aerial and underground environments is requiredExperience assigning fiber counts to homes and determining splice locations is requiredAbility to interpret GIS design and draft a cohesive construction drawing in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Maps 3D is requiredExperience researching and implementing city utilities/structures into base maps for construction drawings while adhering to jurisdictional standards is requiredExperience interpreting field notes and utilizing them for the design is requiredKnowledge of jurisdictional permits, and specialty permits such as railroad, DOT and bridge crossings or attachments is requiredExcellent problem solving and analytical skills are requiredPython or similar coding experience is a plusAbout Wade Trim:
