PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing / commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances, such as IEC 61850, to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from preliminary engineering through to the commissioning and startup.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Land Surveyor / Project Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.
Phasor Engineering is looking for additional professional land surveyors to grow with us throughout North America. We are a subsidiary of Quanta services which is the leading provider of integrated infrastructure solutions for the electric power, underground utility, and communications industries in North America.
The Geomatics division of Phasor Engineering provides a full range of survey services for the Quanta group of companies for various large-scale power projects in Canada and the U.S.A. We are growing fast with increased investment in this industry, and we are looking for professionals to support this growth and foster additional growth.
We are interested in professional land surveyors who are willing to obtain additional professional licenses in the Eastern States and all provinces. All expenses related to obtaining additional licenses will be paid by Phasor. Work from home or hybrid options will be considered based upon the candidate’s circumstances.
Your responsibilities would include professional supervision of work in the jurisdictions you are licensed in. You also could work within our LiDAR or UAV service lines if you are so inclined.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Managing all aspects of project execution
· Must establish communication protocols for the project which will include:
· Identification of Client or Phasor interest holders and decision makers
· Change management
· Information dissemination routes and procedures
· Systematic processes for project data and reporting
· Is responsible for project financials and must establish cost controls and perform periodic reviews to identify any risks
· Must liaise with Phasor personnel on a project to understand all project requirements including scheduling, cost, technical and logistic considerations.
· Will manage any sub-contractors that are performing Geomatics work on a project
· Manage shift schedules, accommodations and mobilization requirements for Crew Chiefs and Survey Assistants unless this work has been delegated to a Field Coordinator.
· Must participate in division-level meetings to coordinate the Crew Allocation between projects
· Is expected to participate in division management by contributing in meetings to understand future workloads and developing the team to meet those requirements
· Instructing and supervising the project team
· Must ensure that all project staff have received proper instructions and are aware of project specific processes and procedures.
· Will actively supervise the project team to ensure proper, efficient and timely execution of project tasks
· Must be available for questions from the project staff regarding tasks, equipment operations and processes and procedures
· Will review project staff’s work to ensure that it meets expectations
· Will instruct project staff when deficiencies in work are identified
· Reviewing all project charges for accuracy
· All Volts time entries must accurately reflect the actual hours worked and equipment used
· All subcontractor and supply charges must be reviewed for accuracy
· Completing any additional reporting that the project may require
· This could include the Plan of Day reporting
· Knowing and understanding all Safety Policies that relate to the work being performed
· Must be aware of what policies apply to all work being performed
· Must carry out any instructions in the policies
· Must ensure that the project staff are following all safety policies
· Ensure that all safety paperwork is completed as required and requested
· This includes the site and day specific safety reporting
· Develop a safety plan for a project if there isn’t a Phasor Safety plan
· Must understand all project specific safety concerns and address them with project staff
· It is expected that the Project Manager will actively participate in ensuring a safe workplace
· The Project Manager must attend and participate in all safety meetings
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering
· 5 years of experience as a Project Manager
· Safety tickets are an asset
· Valid Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Able to work at remote project locations
· Very strong communication skills and English proficiency
· Good computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Outlook and equipment specific software
· Strong supervisory skills
· Able to instruct Crew Chiefs
· Strong Organizational skills
· Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the type of project that is being worked on
· Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
