Job Description: Medical Director, Market Access

 

This position can be based remotely (working from home) or at our headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Summary: The Medical Director (MD) is responsible for the planning, development and oversight of strategic clinical content for an assigned account or accounts across a range of therapeutic categories and brands, addressing different access stakeholders. Reports to a Senior Scientific Director or VP, Group Scientific Director to provide clients with strategic market access recommendations that support the achievement of brand access goals in the marketplace.

 

Responsibilities

  • Independently develops high-quality, medically accurate content for assigned projects, sometimes for multiple accounts, and incorporates feedback accordingly through collaboration with internal medical and account team members
  • Presents own work to internal and external stakeholders
  • Effectively manages own projects
  • Leads discussions and manages relationships with clients
  • Partners with Client Services counterparts in timeline development; begins to gain budgeting skills
  • Participates in the development of and research for brand planning and business development
  • Monitors competitive landscape, market access trends, and marketplace events, and demonstrates the ability to understand brand strategy related to competitive landscape when engaged in impromptu discussions by client
  • Develops and demonstrates creative approach when faced with challenges in data, competitors, and client requests
  • Demonstrates the ability to know when to escalate business related issues up to SSD, GSD, and GVP

 

Education: Advanced degree in Science (PhD or PharmD) required

 

 

Professional Skills and Requirements:

 

  • Five or more years relevant job experience at a market access agency or related healthcare communications agency developing payer and access-focused content (payer advisory boards, payer value propositions, PIE decks, leave behinds, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific data and translate it to appropriate access stakeholder audience (payer, specialty pharmacy, hospital system, etc.)
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, manage projects with limited direction and work within tight deadlines
  • Well versed in established professional medical editorial processes (eg, AMA style) and ethical guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required.

 

This position can be performed remotely in all but the following locations: Colorado, New York City, San Francisco County, CA.
